ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Erin Hale. I've been based in Asia since 2013, reporting on the region’s cultures, economies, politics, and security for more than a decade. I currently live in Taiwan.
I have covered Taiwan, China, Hong Kong and Cambodia, with recent work on the economies of Japan and Indonesia. My work has also spanned international topics like the Iran war and the US-China trade war.
My work has appeared in Al Jazeera, The Guardian, The Independent, Voice of America, The New Statesman, The South China Morning Post, Marie Claire, The Southeast Asia Globe, Forbes.com, and other outlets. I have also covered Cambodia, Hong Kong and China as a Deutsche Presse-Agentur stringer.
I have a degree in Philosophy (Honors) from McGill University in Canada and a Master's in Journalism from the University of Hong Kong.
